MS. GARNEAU'S PORTAL INTO A NEW WORLD
DEAR PARENTS,
My classroom is a safe place for students and parents alike. I encourage parents to reach out to me either through my homepage or through my email at (school email here). Communication is vital in helping prepare my students and your children for the future that they are soon to be walking into. If you would prefer to meet with me face-to-face, I am more than willing to stay after school or to meet outside of the classroom; whatever is most convenient to you.
My goal is for each and every student to walk out of my classroom feeling prepared, confident, and as though they are able to take the world by storm. However, I only see these faces for perhaps an hour a day, and so I ask you to help me achieve this goal.
As far as coursework is concerned, my grades are fairly simple. I expect for the students to grow in their capabilities of comprehension, critical thinking, and writing as the year progresses. If they have failed in this area then I, too, have failed them. Work that a student may have scored an A on in the beginning of the semester may not be the same as another student's A -- each person is scattered along the road to becoming a better reader, writer and thinker and it would be unfair of me to grade comparatively. However, because I expect growth I will expect a student's work to become better in quality between September and June, and so an A in September for the student may not be as easy as an A in June.
If your student shows effort in my class, then I see no reason for them to fail.
Again: if you have questions, comments or concerns feel free to reach out to me at any time.
Sincerely,
MS. GARNEAU
